John Dickinson High School Library Media
Center
Schools in the district are equipped with a Library/Media Center, and librarians (full or part time) staff these centers. The librarians are committed to collaborating with teachers and helping students use different types of information resources – books, magazines, videos, cassettes, online databases, Internet, and other new technologies. They also provide enriching experiences, such as story times, cultural activities, reading programs, and book talks. Red Clay’s Library/Media Centers offer a supportive atmosphere to help students explore the world in which they live and to dream a better world.
During the 2008-2009 school year, the library circulation systems became web-based. Students and parents may now access their home school library catalog online to make book selections.
The district allocates a yearly budget to support these centers. To maintain the collections and encourage personal responsibility, students will be accountable for lost or damaged books, and their report cards may be held until payment is received.
